WHO YOU ARE:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of achieving new billings targets based on the development and execution of a comprehensive B2B focused Business Development plan aligned to the Adult Education Workforce Development addressable market. The candidate must also demonstrate an awareness of federal and state funding opportunities and risks given the new mandates associated with WIOA, Pell Grant, and general workforce development in adult education funding. Most importantly, the candidate must possess exceptional leadership and executional strength to advance a CEO-led vision, ensuring the development and delivery of and accountability driven Business Development plan which aligns to Aztec’s financial goals/targets.
JOB SUMMARY:
Aztec is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President, Business Development - Workforce Markets. The primary purpose of this role is to increase new Sales revenue within the workforce education markets directly contributing to the company’s growth through new B2B billings, partnerships, and other related revenue generating opportunities.
The newly appointed Vice President, Business Development - Workforce Markets will collaborate closely with the CEO to design and execute a comprehensive business development framework that drives organizational growth in the workforce sector.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Co-develop and implement a business development strategy in partnership with the CEO, focused on identifying and engaging new B2B clients that have access to available funding to support workforce training and academic skills instruction for adult learners. This strategic initiative will lay the foundation for a scalable, impact driven approach to workforce market expansion. Target B2B client segments may include:
a. Community Colleges and Technical Colleges offering career development partnership programs with local and regional employers
b. Community Colleges and Technical Colleges offering Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs in order to help adults who lack basic skills, relevant occupational skills, and essential workplace skills to attain the competencies and credentials needed for in-demand careers
c. Community Colleges and Technical Colleges offering Workplace Literacy (WPL) programs in collaboration with employers
d. Community Colleges and Technical Colleges seeking to increase overall enrollment of adult learners through adult learners utilizing the new Workforce Pell Grants which cover the costs of short course workforce preparation programs that lead to stacked credentials
e. Adult Education Bridge Programs focused on entry level to intermediate level career advancement
f. State level and regional level Workforce/ Adult Education Programs focused on creating career pathways that prepare adult learners for promising entry level to intermediate level careers
g. Disability and vocational rehabilitation programs
h. Apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship providers
i. Incumbent worker training and employer-Based Upskilling for Frontline Workers
j. Eligible Training Provider Lists (ETPL / ETP programs) – To receive WIOA-eligible training funds, a provider often must be on the state’s approved list.
2. Formulate partnerships with Service Providers which will enable a broader deployment of Aztec’s adult education and workforce development content portfolio across Job Corps Centers, Workforce Boards/Programs, and employer-based training initiatives.
3. Identify priority re-seller/channel partners who view Aztec’s Workforce Development product offerings as a value add to their existing content portfolio given Aztec’s strength in integrating academics and training for the adult learner.
4. Identify competitive grants focused on Adult Education and Workforce Development specific initiatives. Examples include The U.S. Department of Labor Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund grant programs as well as state/regional grant programs focused on upskilling adult learners.
This role will have the opportunity to utilize a Shared Services organizational structure which includes Marketing, Client Services, Technology, and Finance functional groups. The newly appointed Vice President, Business Development - Workforce Markets will collaborate closely with the CEO to design and execute a comprehensive business development framework that drives organizational growth in the workforce sector. The role carries the following areas of accountability:
- Achieving Sales targets focused on new Workforce Development based opportunities.
- Co-creation, oversight, continuous refinement and measurement of the Strategic Initiatives and KPIs for this role.
- Co-development, monitoring, and tracking of the Business Development OGSMs for this role (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measurements).
- Measurement and tracking of revenue and billings targets.
- Bi-weekly review of financial leading indicator targets and adjustments to business development plan based on results.
Key Responsibilities:
• Co-develop and roll out a Business Development Strategy identifying candidates who have available funding which prioritizes the need for an adult learner focused workforce development offering that combines adult education with workforce preparation and workforce training
• Formulate partnerships with Service Providers which will enable a broader deployment of Aztec’s adult education and workforce development content portfolio
• Identify priority re-seller/channel partners who view Aztec’s Workforce Development product offerings as a value add to their existing content portfolio
• Identify competitive grants focused on Adult Education and Workforce Development specific initiatives
• OGSM development, oversight, and accountability for this role
• Direct accountability tied to achieving overall new Sales targets associated with this business development role
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business or a related field.
- 4 + years of senior leadership experience in developing, executing, and achieving Business Development objectives in the B2B Workforce Development space.
- Enterprise Sales experience which includes closing +$100k state or large consortium opportunities and achieving +$5m annual billings targets focused on the adult learner and workforce development segments.
- Successful creation and execution of channel partnership opportunities in the adult education and workforce space.
- Proven consultative sales experience with the ability to uncover client needs, align solutions to workforce and educational goals, and build long-term strategic partnerships that drive mutual value.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
Position is bonus eligible.
